Bird Brained

They said logging was killing spotted owls. It was used as a pretext to cripple the American wood products industry, at least in the Pacific Northwest, leaving thousands out of work and entire communities and counties economically wrecked. But they lied, logging jobs died and, rather than admit the mistake and reverse course, the obscene and scandalous folly of federal spotted owl policy continues apace.
