Thanks, Greedy Energy Speculators!

If shady, money-grubbing “speculators” are to blame when the price of oil rises, as the President claims, who should we credit when the price of oil falls?

Gremlins?

Fairies?

The Fates?

If speculators really are the hidden hands behind fluctuations in energy prices, shouldn’t the President be thanking them now for their critical role in bringing oil and gas prices down?

Or perhaps the specter of “speculators” is just something political demagogues use to skirt responsibility, by exploiting the ignorance, emotions and economic illiteracy of certain Americans.
